MAGA Battle Lines Drawn in the Marjorie Taylor Greene & Laura Loomer Feud

This weekend, high-profile conservative leaders discussed the ongoing feud between Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene & activist Laura Loomer on social media.

Greene, a Georgia Republican responded to a New York Times report that stated that former President Donald Trump asked his staff to recruit Loomer, an “Islamaphobe”, and former congressional candidate for his 2024 presidential campaign.

Trump’s staunch ally, Greene warned against her hiring, calling her “mentally unstable” and “a documented liar” in a tweet where she accused Loomer, in which she accused Loomer, of supporting Kanye West’s 2020 presidential bid.

Greene raised concerns over a report that former President Donald Trump could bring Loomer to his 2024 presidential campaign. Conservative commentators supported Greene’s comments, while others condemned them.

“She spent months lying about and attacking me because I supported Kevin McCarthy as Speaker, and after I had refused her endorsement for the last election cycle. She loves the alleged FBI informant Nick Fuentes,” wrote the GOP lawmaker. He was referring to the Holocaust denier who dined at Mar-a-Lago last year with Trump and West.

Laura Loomer is a known liar and mentally unstable.

She cannot be trusted.

Loomer replied on Friday afternoon, writing, “Not very Christian’ of you to lie as this.. especially Good Friday. Is this you @mtgreenee Gee, what’s the matter? You should tell everyone that you asked for my help in raising money. I rented my email list and you asked me to do your opposition research. [Representative] Ilhan Omar.”

This is not a very “Christian” lie.. especially on Good Friday.

@mtgreenee, is this you?

The spat has split MAGA, with right-wing commentators and influencers drawing battle lines behind their comrades. Greene was backed by some Republicans who agreed that Trump shouldn’t bring in such a controversial figure to his election team.

Jenna Ellis, a legal advisor to Trump’s 2020 presidential campaign wrote that it was “good to see @mtgreenee willing and able to call out this total absurdity.”

“[Loomer] Ellis wrote that she has lied,/or attacked and posted vulgarities on everyone she feels threatened by.”

However, others defended Loomer’s position against Greene’s criticisms.

“When history is written, it will show that @LauraLoomer did a lot more to expose & derail @GovRonDeSantis’ treacherous & disloyal candidacy than any of her critics. Roger Stone, conservative commentator and consultant, tweeted Saturday that Loomer is a true Trump-loyalist who is more concerned about saving America than she is about her place in the entourage.

Ali Alexander, organizer of the January 6, 2021 “Stop the Steal”, rally, tweeted that Greene’s remarks were “false.”

“Laura Loomer politely declined an invitation to support YE24. He wrote that she said she supported Trump regardless of what.” “Furthermore you asked for a meeting to Ye. After we fired Milo, your consultant, we declined. Talk to Isaiah Wartman if you have any questions about the legality or purchase. Wanna get legal? You lie to J6 Families, me and now this. Stop telling the truth.

Marjorie, this is false. I’m about embarrassing you.

Laura Loomer is a former Florida congressional candidate. She made headlines in 2020 by describing herself as a proud Islamaphobe and calling Islam a cancer. Her inflammatory remarks led to her being banned from social media platforms. She was criticized for tweeting “Good, Here’s to 2,000 More” in 2017 in response to reports that 2,000 migrants had drowned crossing the Mediterranean Sea from Africa into Europe.

In 2018, she was banned from Twitter for tweets she made to Omar, a Minnesota Democrat, about her faith. Her account was reinstated.

Loomer defeated Daniel Webster, the incumbent Republican Representative in Florida’s 11th Congressional district, by 6 percentage points. However, she refused to concede the election and blamed her loss on “corruption” within GOP.

Newsweek reached out via email to Loomer & Greene’s offices for comment.
