Alvin Bragg, Manhattan District Attorney, has filed a lawsuit in federal court against Rep. Jim Jordan (R–OH). The lawsuit seeks to block a subpoena Jordan issued Mark Pomerantz. Jordan was a former senior prosecutor in Bragg’s office. It also seeks to stop Jordan from receiving “confidential papers and testimony from the district attorneys himself as well as his current, former employees, and officials” as part a probe into Bragg’s handling of the Donald Trump case.
Jordan chairs the House Judiciary Committee. Recently, Pomerantz was subpoenaed by the committee. Pomerantz oversaw the investigation into Trump’s activities as a Manhattan DA’s Office employee. Bragg and his office have also been requested to provide documents and testimony. Bragg has rejected these requests.

Bragg stated in a statement:
“Chairman Jordan’s subpoena to the New York felony criminal investigation and prosecution is an unconstitutional attempt at destroying an ongoing New York felony criminal trial.” This is an unprecedented, illegal interference by Congress that lacks legal merit and defies basic principles federalism, as our complaint reveals.
Trump was charged with 34 counts for falsifying business records. He pled not guilty at his Manhattan arraignment last week.
