The Manhattan district attorney is doing everything possible to stop Republicans from interfering with his fraud records case against the former President.
Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg sued Jim Jordan (R.Ohio), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, in an attempt to stop Republicans from meddling in his case against former President Donald Trump. The New York Times The suit was first reported by the reporter.
Bragg and Jordan have been waging antagonizing as Jordan attempted to use his position at the top of the House Judiciary Committee in order to disrupt the former’s investigation into Trump. Bragg’s office has charged Trump with 34 counts for felony falsification business records in relation to a 2016 hush money payment to Stormy Daniels. Trump pleaded not guilty to the charges last week.
Bragg filed a suit Tuesday naming Jordan’s tactics, which included subpoenas, and most recently an announcement that the Judiciary Committee would hold a hearing in New York on crime next Monday, as “brazen, unconstitutional” and a “transparent campaign of intimidation and attack.”
Bragg wrote in the suit that Congress has no power “to supervise state criminal prosecutions.” He also stated that Jordan’s subpoena threatened the “sovereign rights of the States, confidence and secrecy in grand jury proceedings, as well as the integrity of an ongoing criminal investigation.”
Jordan argued the opposite. “First, they indict the president for no crime. He wrote on Twitter that they then sued to block congressional oversight of questions they have about federal funds they claim they used to do it.
The suit is designed to stop Jordan from enforcing subpoenas relating to Bragg’s probe. Jordan subpoenaed Mark Pomerantz, a former New York County Special Assistant District attorney, last week. Pomerantz claimed that Pomerantz was “searching to find any basis to bring criminal charges against Trump.” Bragg was not pleased. His office responded that the House GOP continued to try to undermine an active investigation into a New York criminal case and an ongoing New York criminal case by launching an unprecedented campaign of harassment, intimidation and intimidation. “Repeated attempts to weaken state or local law enforcement actions is an abuse of power and we will not be deterred from our duty to uphold law.”

Bragg attacked Jordan once more on Monday, after Jordan announced that he would hold a Judiciary Committee hearing in Manhattan on Bragg’s “procrime, antivictim policies”.
Bragg’s office wrote that “Don’t be fooled” the House GOP was coming to New York City for a political stunt. Bragg noted that New York City’s murder rate is three times higher than that of Columbus, Ohio. Jordan should drive to his home state if he truly cares about public safety.
